Between 1 November and 13 December 2024, the exhibition ‘We are not Alone’: Legacies of Eugenics is on display at the University of Helsinki, hosted by the Centre for Research in Ethnic Relations and Nationalism and Swedish School of Social Sciences. On 5 November Prof Marius Turda gave a public talk explaining the aims of the exhibitions and the role it plays in today’s debates about the resurgence of eugenics.

On 1 November 2024, Professor Marius Turda gave a talk on “Eugenic Iconographies and the Public Imagination” at the Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford. The talk was organised by the University of Oxford’s Festival of Social Sciences and Oxford Brookes University.

Between 23 and 25 October 2024, Professor Marius Turda and a number of students from Oxford Brookes University took part in and co-hosted the First “Eugenics in Society Conference” in partnership with the Acumen Group (USA) and the University of Westminster (UK).

Between 6 and 12 June 2024, the ‘We are not Alone’ exhibition’ was on display at Casa Preta da Maré in Nova Holanda favela in Rio de Janeiro.

The exhibition was on display at the Oxford Brookes University between 17 and 18 April and at the Museum of Oxford between 19 and 20 April, during the Think Human festival. Professor Marius Turda also organised two events in connection with the exhibition: he first focused on disability and sterilisation with contributions from Ramandeep Kaur and Terry-Lee (see video below); the second dealt with anti-Roma racism and featured Terezia Rostas and John Henry Phillips.

At the beginning of April 2024, at the invitation of Professor Gracyelle Costa from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and Professor Robert Wegner from Casa de Oswaldo Cruz, Marius travelled to Rio with the exhibition on the legacies of eugenics. He also gave lectures and participated in discussions with Brazilian students and scholars of eugenics.

On 12 March 2024 the exhibition ‘We are not Alone’: Legacies of Eugenics opened at the Jewish Community of Belgrade, followed by a conference at University of Belgrade’s Faculty of Philosophy.
